OnePlus Nord Cases Review

We’ve all been there, going about your day and suddenly your phone slips right out of your hand. As you slowly watch it hit the ground, you’re praying there is no damage to your pride and joy. Can you imagine not being able to share that beautiful wide-angle selfie to Instagram — me neither!

Good thing you had your OnePlus case protecting your phone, right? Or did you really think it was wise risking it for a chocolate biscuit…

OnePlus have continued the tradition, which most manufactures have stopped doing, of including a case in the box. The OnePlus Nord was no different, and although at first glance when you open the box you might be thinking “Oh, not another clear silicone case”, OnePlus have upped their game with this one. Not only does the case protect the full back and sides of the device, they’ve have added a couple of extra touches to this case which makes you actually want to use it. My favourite being the frosted design on the back. Not only is this a great way to keep the Nord brand present but also adds that design element to what is normally quite a boring case. The charger flap is the other little gem which is something I haven’t seen on any other cases I’ve ever ordered. This helps prevent dust and dirt getting in the charger port which is such an added bonus especially on a free case too. It doesn’t stop there either as OnePlus included transparent stickers in the box which are perfect for those who want to go further in adding that extra something to their case.

If the silicone case isn’t your cup of tea, OnePlus have you covered as they’ve got plenty more to choose from on their store. These consist of the:

Clear Bumper Case — £13.99

Sandstone Bumper Case (available in Blue and Black) — £17.99

Creator Cases (JerryRigEverything, Finsta and Camilla Engstrom) — £26.99

As I pre-ordered the Nord, my device came with a free special gift which was the blue Sandstone case and as you can imagine the silicone case didn’t even get a look in. My love for sandstone cases came from, you guessed it, the OnePlus One. The sandstone back on the OnePlus One was unique at the time that even when I had the phone years after its initial realise it was still such a cool thing to see. You just can’t beat the texture the sandstone case has. I also love how well protected my phone is with this case, this is because it fully covers the back and sides, including the buttons, of the device.

Fast forward a couple of weeks’ and I’d brought the JerryRigEverything Creator Case which fully cemented the fate of the silicone case… back in the lovely OnePlus Nord box it arrived in! I’ve been a huge fan of the teardown style of cases and skins, and even more so when I saw the look of the OnePlus 7T Teardown Skin by dBrand in person on @jkb114’s phone which is why I purchased this case even though I already had two. The only downside to this case is because it is made of plastic it doesn’t cover the buttons and ports on the device which exposes those areas compared to the other two cases as well as it being a lot more slippery in the hand due to material it is made out of. Saying that, it still does keep the phone from taking the brunt of a fall.

Now, I’ve not put these cases through any kind of drop test as I value my phone too much, as well the actual cases too. I have accidentally dropped my phone with the Nord Creator Case on both indoor and outdoor. Thankfully, there was no damage to the Nord and the case came out with only minor scratches to the corners which assures me that the cases by OnePlus are of good quality and do what they should, protect the phone — and in style too!

With cases like these, why risk it for a chocolate biscuit.
