Mrwhosetheboss, a Lamborghini and an airfield…
This could only spell one thing… the OnePlus Summer Launch video shoot!
Sometimes life can be, well, can be pretty damn cool. This experience certainly sits up there as one of the best days of my life — it honestly still feels like a dream!
I’ll never forget the day when the email landed into my inbox asking if I’d like to feature in an upcoming product unboxing video with an influencer. I mean, who would ever say no to that!…
Rewind to the morning of June 2nd where I set off on my travels to the Cartwright Hotel in Banbury. Here I met James from OnePlus before heading to Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield in convoy. At this point, I really didn’t know what was going to happen, who this influencer was, or in fact what they wanted me to do.
After a short wait in the Airfield car park watching people parachute out of planes — which has made me want to do it even more — I was greeted by the production team where I was briefed. During this briefing, I was told I’d be driven somewhere in the Volkswagen Van and when given the nod I was to exit the van and confidently walk along the middle of the road.
Yep, the nerves were certainly kicking in at this point!
After nervously sitting in the van, I stepped out to be greeted with a Lamborghini which I called a Ferrari… 🤦♀️ I think I’ll always be mad at myself for this moment and my other half won’t let me forget it either.
As I continued my walk with a grin on my face, the Lamborghini door opened and Mrwhosetheboss (Arun) came out holding the box of the brand new Nord CE where he announced I was the first person to receive this device in Europe (except OnePlus staff and Tech Reviewers of course). My mind went completely went blank. I honestly had no recollection of what I actually said when I walked up to Arun.
After being taken out for a spin in the Lamborghini I was told the original plan was for Arun to meet me in the middle but I’d walked too fast and was already at the car by the time he’d opened the door. I mean a 5ft 7" women doesn’t slow walk anywhere especially when she sees a super nice car like a Lamborghini 😅
It was super nice to be able to have a chat with Arun afterwards with some of the OnePlus staff talking about all things OnePlus as well as other tech products.
Meeting Arun was something I’d never in a million years think would happen, let alone being involved in the launch of the OnePlus Nord CE. Being a passenger in the Lamborghini was also pretty cool — shame they wouldn’t let me behind the wheel… next time OnePlus?!
The day went so fast, but it was honestly such an amazing experience — one of the best days of my life.
