Amazing trip to the BBC Studios
My University friends and I, went to MediaCity, Salford on Friday 26th April as part of a course trip to the BBC Studios to gain an insight into how they work specifically in UX design using different technologies.
While at the BBC we had a few workshops throughout the day as well as tour of their office which included the BBC Breakfast Studio. The first workshop was in the Blue Room which had a lot of cool technology in it such as VR headsets. We were shown how those different technologies could be used in different scenarios. We were then give a tour of the office where we went into the BBC Breakfast studio. It was amazing to see how the studio was set up, but it was definitely a shame they didn’t allow us to sit on the famous red sofa. After lunch we had a workshop on prototyping for VR which involved making a lot random things with cardboard. The final part of the day was joining the UX Designers across different teams within the BBC in their fortnightly catch up sessions where they get together and talk about different design topics.
The day was an amazing and interesting experience, with the highlight being seeing the BBC Breakfast studio. I did also fall in love with the bluetooth sunglasses by Bose – shame I could never afford to spend £200 on sunglasses! 😂
